Winter is Coming- And so are the Surveys!

By Sara Clarke-De Reza

Nearly all the leaves are off the trees here on Washington College’s campus on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The cool, crisp autumn air has given way to the brisk, biting winds of winter. Despite the weather’s turn the spirits of our research team remain high. This is due in no small part to the fact that our partner schools’ boxes of paper surveys keep rolling in!

Pictured here from left to right are Dr. Nick Garcia and researcher Avery Castellani with boxes full of data from some of the Busload of Books tour’s earliest school visits. On the right is Riley McHugh, holding the first of a few major orders of printed surveys for our spring school partners.

In the coming weeks we will turn on the heaters and cozy up in the Busload of Books lab to begin a long winter of work. Together, we will enter all the paper survey data alongside the surveys from schools participating online, and pack a whole new set of boxes to ship out to schools in the southeast, south, and west, who will be hanging out with Robbi and Matthew in January, February, and March of 2023!
