By Avery Castellani
Hello and a belated Happy New Year to all the devoted BoB followers out there! This is Avery once again coming to you from our base at Washington College where the temperature just cannot make up its mind. On behalf of myself and the entire team, we’re beyond excited to sink our teeth into 2023 and the spring semester. As proof of this, we’ve compiled some exciting information for you re: developments in the project!
First, we’re ecstatic to welcome the wonderful Brooke Thomas to our team! Brooke is a second-semester freshman at WAC whose interest in Sociology has done wonders in rounding out our group. You’ll be able to learn much more about her in her very own Researcher Spotlight post, which dropped within the last week here on the blog. Go check it out!
Second, Dr. Garcia has generously put together a summary of some hot-button statistics from the data we’ve collected from around the country. So far...
As of February 13, 2023 we have processed 6,224 surveys from 2,907 students across 19 schools.
76.2% of all students receiving “Everywhere Wonder” read the book outside of school.
88% of students receiving “Ben Yokoyama and the Cookie of Doom” have attempted to read it, with 39.35% of those completing the entire book.
Currently, 136 teachers have submitted surveys to describe activities surrounding the assembly.
Keep in mind, this is just a snapshot of an ever-evolving dataset. As the semester continues and we receive more online and paper surveys, these numbers will change and inspire further analysis. In the grand scheme of things, we’re still picking up momentum!
Thank you to everyone who showed our team / Matthew and Robbi support last year. You keep our morale high so we can continue doing work like this. See you in the future!
