Hello Busload of Books enthusiasts!
Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 26 from 5-8PM EST, because something exciting is coming up for the Busload of Books team... We are hosting our first ever virtual conference: the Busload of Books National Literacy and Research Convening!
With input from our Teacher Advisory Committee, we curated an online conference featuring sessions from our very own Busload of Books Research team, Dr. Joy Erikson, and Robbi & Matthew! Our research team will kick the conference off by sharing data that shows the positive impact a one-time author visit like Robbi & Matthew’s can have on students’ literacy motivations, and how that data can be used to advocate for these
experiences in your school and local communities. Next, Dr. Joy Erikson will give a keynote address that explores the ways in which we can support and motivate young readers, allowing them a positive reading experience. Finally, we will hear closing comments from Robbi & Matthew, who will discuss the Busload of Books Project as a whole, answer questions, and recognize the efforts of all those who play a role in this important work, including you!
